IDEAS AND INSPIRATIONYou get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it. ~ Neil Gaiman (Coraline) Where did all of the ideas come from for all of these books? Where will your idea come from for the book you are going to write? Start with a memory, a funny moment, a theme, your favorite food, something in the news. Start an idea page for your book. Write, sketch, scribble…just get as many ideas down on paper as you can. Design the page to be a source of inspiration for your writing.
Children's Picture Book Project What is your favorite picture book? Why do you like this book? What is important about this book? Who read this book to you? Do you plan to read books to your children? Do you think it's harder to write a novel or a picture book? Why? Next week, we are going to explore children's literature and eventually write and illustrate a picture book. |
