Think of a place that's so special to you that you just love thinking about it. Describe this place so clearly that your reader will know just what it's like to be there.
It’s Monday again and thank goodness we have this wonderful opportunity here at the Learning Network to explore an image used to help present the news! Feel free to get going, telling us what you think is happening in the picture. Give us lots of detail, and remember to point out what you saw in the image that makes you think as you do. When you check in, read through the comments of others. We love it when you respond to comments made before you got here. You can agree or disagree, but always remember to cite your evidence. We’re delighted by individual comments and also those submitted by whole classes who discuss the pictures as a group and then summarize their thoughts. So let’s waste no time! What’s going on in this chaotic scene? — VTS Moderator Update: Oct. 1, 2013
This image comes from the July 23 “Pictures of the Day” slide show on the Lens blog. The caption reads: Helping a young man who fell on a flooded railway track in Mumbai, India. India experiences its monsoon season each year from June through September, when flooding in major cities like Mumbai is not uncommon. You can view more photographs by Rajanish Kakade of this year’s floods in Mumbai, or watch a slide show of images from the 2013 monsoon season. Friday Free Write is your chance to write whatever is on your mind. You could write about the past week, weekend plans, or anything else that you think would be worth writing in your school journal.
