Here's an easy way to get fiction writing ideas. Just complete this magic phrase: "______was/were not what it/he/she seemed." Examples:
Write a short short story Using this phrase Write a story that involves confusion over homonyms (words that have the same spelling but different meanings) or homophones (words that sound the same but are spelled differently). You can use any homonym or homophone you can think of, but here are a few examples to get you started:
Children's Book Week is coming and we are going to celebrate! Children's book week has been around for 98 years!! Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Every year, events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes. Prompt: Tell me about your favorite picture book. Who read it to you? What did you like about this book? Did you have a favorite character? Did it teach you a lesson? Type this prompt in Google Docs, add a picture of your book and share it with me. I will print and post your work in celebration of Children's Book Week. Grab the closest book. Go to page 29. Write down 10 words that catch your eye. Use 7 of the words in a poem. For extra credit, have 4 of them appear at the end of a line Think, Draw, Create a Comic strip or Write about the following questions:
Think of a time you learned something new. What steps did you take to learn it? How did you feel? What were your thoughts? Think of a time you failed at something. How did you deal with it? How did you feel? What were your thoughts? Think of an animal that is endangered. Describe this animal in such a way that other people will appreciate it and want to protect it.
You are given the chance to train as a Jedi with Yoda for the day. Where do you go? What happens? What do you learn? How do you feel? Write a story about what happens that day.
Imagine your dream job and write a letter of application for this job. Include why you are a good candidate for the job, your experience and your expected pay.
